Mission:
- To solve the district's most pressing problems
- To further communication between students, parents, teachers, school staff, community members, and representative officials
- To create a forum of collaboration that continues past the current crisis, based upon the necessity of continued community involvement in Saline Area Schools
- To heighten awareness and concern for the issues facing our school district
The main purpose of the Saline Area Schools Community Forum is to create a coalition of students, teachers, parents, and other community members so that, together, we can solve the district's most pressing problems. While there are some serious issues facing the district at the present, we also hope that the forum will continue into the future, focusing both on problems facing the district as well as accomplishments we can be proud of.
We formed the idea of creating this forum after reading articles published on AnnArbor.com. Many Saline community members commented on these articles and some very dynamic conversation ensued. However, when the posts drifted into a black hole of the Internet as new articles were published, the discussion that was occurring was seen by less and less people. This meant that all of the solutions the people of Saline were on track to creating fell into this black hole as well. We know that these issues can be solved, the problem is that there is no permanent place for members of the Saline community to discuss the issues. So, we made a place to do so.
Within this forum, there are different overhead topics already posted by site administrators. These are simply umbrellas for specific topics that members of the site can post themselves. Also, site administrators will post articles informing users about the goings-on in the district. There is also a section displaying useful links that should be helpful in even further immersing users in information and news. Another feature the site includes is a section about upcoming events in the district. If, at any time, you wish for something to be added either to these sections or to the site as a whole, please email us at matt@salineforum.com and michelle@salineforum.com.
One thing we want to make clear is that this site is completely independent from the district itself. Although we encourage cooperation and participation by school officials, the news posted by us will be completely unbiased. Our goal is to give site members opportunities to learn about the district and the issues so conversation can be productive and informed.
While posting, please follow these rules:
- All posts must follow common decency
- All posts must remain pertinent to the mission and subject areas of SAS Community
- All members must act respectfully towards one another
- No "teacher bashing" will be permitted. Any concerns with regards to specific teachers should be addressed through the school district directly
- SAS Community reserves the right to delete, alter, etc any post deemed in violation of the above rules
- Violation of the above may result in loss of membership
Again, if you have any questions or comments please let us know. Thank you for visiting the site, we look forward to your contributions and to hearing your opinions.
